The History of Bathing: Jjimjilbang

A jjimjilbang, translated literally as ‘steamed quality room’, is a form of bathhouse found in South Korea.

Used for medicinal purposes since the 15th century, these bathhouses were once state funded and maintained by Buddhist Monks. Now furnished with hot tubs, showers, traditional kiln saunas and massage tables, these centres of rest and recovery are typically open 24 hours a day.

We’ve always believed that bathing is good for the Seoul, but don’t think you should have to travel to get the benefits of a good bath. Jumpstart your bathing Korea with one of our sets.
